               Symbol of Phatthalung

Phatthalung is on the western coast of Songkhla Lake, 860 km from Bangkok. It covers an area of 3,424.5 sq km. This mountainous city is among the ancient cities in the South. Khao Ok Thalu or Mount Ok Thalu, the symbol of the city, is prominent by its height and can be seen from a distance. The performing arts of Nang Talung (puppet shadow play) and Nora dance have their origins in this city. It was assumed from evidence that Phatthalung had been a town built in the Srivijaya period. The original town was located at  Hua Khao Daeng on the coast now opposite the city of Songkhla. Because of risks, the town was moved to various districts.

   1. Mom Chui waterfall

                            

   Tamot waterfall or Mom Chui waterfall      is 12 kilometers  from  the  district  office. Take Highway No. 4121 and  Highway No. 4137 (south  of  Phatthalung  city) from Highway No. 4 all the way to Wat Tamot. The  waterfall  is l ocated  in Tamot  Wildlife Protection  Unit, a bout 4-5  kilometers  past the temple. The waterfall  is  in  the middle of a lush  forest. The waterfall falls  down  several levels  that  have  different  names  to  a  pool below. A wide  rock  plateau  is  suitable  for relaxation.

2.  Sagai Village

Sagai is the last hill tribes of  the southern part of Thailand now. In Changwat Phatthalung they live at Banthat  Moutain, near Ban Thachang,Moo 9 Tambon Tamot,Amphoe Tamot. Sometimes they move to stay at Amphoe  Pabon.Sagai is symbol of Tamot.

      

             3. Kao Chetyot

 

Khao  Chetyot  is a part of  Banthat Mountains

 in  the west of Ban Tamot  and Ban Lochangkra . It’s  between  Phatthalung and  Trang  provinces. It’s  very  pure air,nice scenery  and very beautiful.

     
4. Phachumchon KhaoHuachang

Pha Chumchon Khao Huachang  (community forest )is the source of water for people use in daily life,not only for Ban Tamot but for Ban Bangkaeo and Ban Khao Chaison before rins to Songkhla lake sea.In our forest has many herbs we can bring to use.So we shoud save this forest for children and help the world reduce global warming.
